The Mysterious Jose Padilla UFO Encounter: A Forgotten Case from 1945
Did a UFO crash in New Mexico two years before Roswell?
When we talk about famous UFO incidents, Roswell often dominates the conversation. But few people know about a lesser-known, yet deeply intriguing event that supposedly occurred in August 1945, just weeks after the bombing of Hiroshima, and two years before Roswell.
This is the story of Jose Padilla, a young boy who may have witnessed one of the earliest UFO crash incidents in modern history—in San Antonio, New Mexico.
The Encounter
According to reports, Jose Padilla, who was just 9 years old at the time, and his friend Reme Baca were exploring the area near Padilla’s family ranch when they heard a loud crashing sound. Curious, they rushed to the site—and what they claimed to have seen would remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Lying in a trench was what they described as a strange, egg-shaped metallic craft, partially buried and seemingly damaged. The boys claimed they saw small beings moving inside, and that the craft emitted a strange humming sound.
Military Involvement
Days later, the U.S. military allegedly arrived at the site. According to the boys, they were told to stay quiet. The area was sealed off, and the object was removed under heavy secrecy. Some reports suggest that a special retrieval team came in and transported the object out of the area.
The boys were never officially interviewed by authorities at the time, but their story would resurface decades later.
The Documents and Controversy
The case came to broader attention when Jacques Vallée, a well-known UFO researcher and astrophysicist, investigated the story and included it in his 2021 book "Trinity: The Best-Kept Secret". Vallée claims the incident is real, and that the object retrieved may have had unknown, possibly extraterrestrial origins.
Skeptics, however, argue that the long time between the event and its public reveal casts doubt on its credibility. Memory distortions, government secrecy, and the absence of photographic evidence are often cited as reasons to remain cautious.
Why It Matters
Whether or not you believe Jose Padilla’s story, the 1945 San Antonio UFO crash is important because it predates Roswell and raises questions about how long these incidents may have been occurring—and how long they’ve been kept secret.
Is it possible that the U.S. government has been aware of non-human craft for longer than we think?
With new government interest in UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) and declassified files emerging, perhaps the Jose Padilla case deserves a second look.
What do you think? Could this be the true “first crash” of a UFO on American soil? Or is it just another legend wrapped in the fog of time?
